Following my dream to visit as many islands as possible in Greece (this is a big dream given the fact that Greece has around 6000 islands :D), I chose this year Kefalonia island, and a few months later, Thassos island. As always in Greece, I tried the same comforting feelings - summer feels in Greece like a continuous/prolonged weekend. I was once again impressed by Greek hospitality and their kind hearts. I will try to make my top 5 favorite places in Kefalonia:
1. Xi beach - It has the most ruddy sand I have ever seen. On the beach you'll find clay cliffs - you can use that clay to make yourself a natural mask for your skin.I found this beach perfect for morning or evening jogging. If you're lucky, you may see turtles as they use to come here in the evening.
2. Petani beach - I saw here the best sunsets while being in Kefalonia.
3. Myrthos beach - It is the most spectacular and it reminded me a lot of Lefkada.
4. Melissani cave - It was very impressive, I consider this place unique on Earth. But I kind of remained disappointed as the hole process of visiting the cave was made in a hurry.
5. Assos town (and the Venetian castle) - Here you can get in touch with those traditional Greek houses you keep seeing and admiring in the postcards.
